March 2011 - That's a lot of thanks... thanks a lot!

Back to Newsletter

In just one month, we collected 8.200 thank you notes for 1,134 teachers at 198 different schools! That's a record for our award-winning program! Thanks to Mission Federal Credit Union, the top six winning elementary, middle and high school teachers with the most thank you notes will be awarded JA classes AND a $150 Visa gift card - lucky them!

They'll also receive a classroom party or fieldtrip of their choice, and ten other teachers were honored with Outstanding Teacher Dedication Awards and gift cards. Mission Fed also rewarded each of the top-ten schools turning in the most thank you notes with $200 School Spirit Awards.

"We have no doubt that this effort will increase the morale of teachers who have been affected by budget cuts. They truly are making a difference in the lives of San Diego's students," said Tricia Link, Vice President of External Affairs for Mission Federal.

In its inaugural year (2008), the campaign collected just over 4,000 thank you notes, and garnered two prestigious national and international awards from the Credit Union National Association for top community campaign and a global Entrepreneurial Spirit award from the MetLife Foundation, which awarded $25,000 to JA!

We hope to break our record next year, and even though that means a much longer counting party, we're up for it!
