President's Message
Since 1999, I have had the honor and pleasure of serving as the President and CEO of Junior Achievement of San Diego and Imperial Counties. During these years, we have grown from an organization that serves approximately 14,000 students to our current annual student enrollment of 40,000 young Junior Achievers. Our JA students are being educated for success in the global economy because the business and community leaders of San Diego have joined JA's effort to educate our young people in numerous ways:
- Each year, over 1,500 adults are JA classroom volunteers
- Over 2,000 companies, individuals and foundations support JA each year
- 50 active JA Board Members give their time, treasure and talent to JA
- Numerous organizations and institutions partner and collaborate with JA to benefit our students
- Teachers, Principals, Superintendents and parents are all part of making the JA experience possible
A special thanks to all these wonderful partners who make JA a reality.
JA San Diego has a permanent home in Mission Valley: The JA Free Enterprise Center, sponsored by Frontier Trading which contains a real city, JA BizTown, which is sponsored by San Diego's McGrath Family. JA BizTown is a world-class experiential learning facility, where students run 21 businesses such as NBC 7/39, Kaiser, Mission Federal Credit Union, US Bank and SeaWorld.
Through our 24 in-classroom JA Programs and JA BizTown, our goal is to reach ALL of the K-12 students in San Diego and Imperial Counties. We invite you to join us on this wonderful mission!
