When JA Staff Goes to BizTown...

The question often asked of me is, "Do you love what you do and why?" The answer often spoken by me is, "I do and because it feels good."

I am a firm believer that one should find a job or career they love. Humans already spend a third of their day resting so why spend another other third at a job they don't fully enjoy?

With that said, sometimes the jobs we love wear us down so it doesn't hurt to get a sporadic dose of inspiration. JA staff members are encouraged to volunteer at least twice a year—once in the classroom and once at JA BizTown for that very reason. We are to be reminded of why we do what we do, why our mission is so important, and dole out some inspiration along the way.

I watched over the rockstar staff at JA BizTown's Sun Diego shop and watched 5th grade students learn to work as a team, run a business all on their own and manage their personal finances. In 5th grade! When I was their age, my biggest hope was for the Chargers to win the Super Bowl. Needless to say, I had to come up with my own hopes and dreams after that. =)

After my day of volunteering, call me rejuvenated! I can't wait for when I'm in the classroom next!
