Junior Achievement, Cortez Racing Association Announce Second Annual Sailing Regatta

Junior Achievement of San Diego County and Cortez Racing Association (CRA) will team up for the Junior Achievement Regatta on Saturday, June 14. CRA, a nonprofit organization that promotes sailboat racing, announced Junior Achievement as this year’s charity beneficiary.
The annual regatta will benefit Junior Achievement’s programs that teach kids how to get a job, start a business, and how money works. The nonprofits invite the San Diego community for a fun day on the water and a terrific afterparty.
Sailing will begin at noon. Following the race, Marina Cortez at 1880 Harbor Island Drive will host the afterparty.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF SAN DIEGO, INC. works locally to impact 52,000 students in K-12 classrooms in the 2013-2014 school year. Junior Achievement’s volunteer-based programs teach kids how to get a job, start a business and how money works. CORTEZ RACING ASSOCIATION (CRA): Founded in 1980, Cortez Racing Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sailboat racing. Its mission is to promote local, regional, and international Corinthian sailboat racing and broaden participation in racing by offering interesting race events and social activities for a modest annual fee, making yacht racing more accessible and fun. Today, CRA has more than 300 members and associate members, many of them are also members of other yacht clubs around San Diego and beyond.
Staffed entirely by volunteers, CRA schedules and runs more than 20 yacht racing events each year, among which the famous and popular Summer Beer Can series, and two fund-raising regattas in association with other local yacht clubs. CRA is a member of the San Diego Association of Yacht Clubs (SDAYC) and PHRF-SD.
